$3.6 billion requested for 2023, focused on nutrition

A number of national and international organizations involved in humanitarian and relief work have received 45 percent of the $3.6 billion requested under the Lebanon Crisis Response Plan (LCRP) for 2022.

The education sector received the highest amount of funding in 2022, with a total of $297 million, followed by cash assistance of $245 million, and funding for food security of $237 million. The plan initially allocated $975 million for food security, but only 24 percent of this amount was received.

The assistance reached more than two million people, including around 992,000 Syrian refugees, 954,500 Lebanese citizens, 110,600 Palestinian Refugees in Lebanon (PRL), and 30,300 Palestinian Refugees from Syria (PRS).

The assistance included three million subsidized health consultations that were provided through primary healthcare centers, a 44 percent increase from 2021.

The LCRP budget requested for 2023 is $3.6 billion. It will have an increased focus on nutrition and food security, according to UNHCR.

LCRP is a joint plan between the government and international and national organizations, updated annually to specify the value of assistance needed to address the needs of vulnerable residents, including citizens, Palestinian refugees, and Syrian refugees.
