The French Development Agency (AFD) will provide a grant of €7 million ($7.3 million) for the new agricultural development project ARADINA which aims to help 2,500 farmers transition to ecological farming and support more than 150 cooperatives and traders in improving their agricultural products.
The four-year project also aims to raise awareness about the importance of ecological farming especially among the youth and to support public policies pertaining to the transition to this kind of agriculture, according to a statement by the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
The project will be implemented under MoA’s supervision by CIHEAM Montpellier in cooperation with the international humanitarian organization Action Against Hunger and Fair Trade Lebanon, an agri-food and economic development NGO.
CIHEAM Montpellier is one of the institutes of France-based International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM).
