Doctors Without Borders, better known as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), said it has deployed 12 mobile medical teams across the country to provide psychological first aid, general medical consultations, medication, and mental health support to over one million people displaced by the war.
“With 875 shelters in Lebanon, over 70 percent are full. Displaced people, especially children, women, the elderly, and those with disabilities, urgently need help,” MSF said in a statement.
Médecins Sans Frontières, which is an NGO founded in 1971 by a group of French doctors, is distributing essential items to the displaced including blankets, mattresses, and hygiene kits. It is also supplying water to schools and shelters.
“Hot meals and drinking water are being provided to hundreds of displaced families. MSF has donated fuel and trauma kits to hospitals, prepositioned ten tons of medical supplies, and trained over 100 healthcare workers in trauma care and mass casualty management. Furthermore, MSF has sent 45 tons of medical equipment designed for trauma care and mass casualty response to hospitals in need, with more supplies on the way,” MSF said.
