Over 900,000 doses of cholera vaccines were received by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH). They will be used during phase two of the oral cholera vaccination campaign led by MoPH starting from December 17.

MoPH had already received 600,000 doses. Another 900,000 doses are still being expected.

The vaccine supply was provided with the support of the World Health Organization and the International Coordination Group on vaccine provision. It is funded by the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund and the Contingency Fund for Emergencies.

The vaccination’s first campaign began in mid-November. Over 90 percent of the previously received doses were delivered earlier this month. The vaccination campaign is targeting refugee camps and host communities in areas affected by the cholera outbreak such as Akkar and the Bekaa.
